Senior Director, IP Counsel
Job Summary
Leading Teradata's intellectual property strategy, the full-time Senior Director, IP Counsel will oversee a team of IP professionals, manage global IP portfolio activities, and serve as a strategic legal partner to various stakeholders in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement Teradata's global IP strategy, including patents, trademarks, and open-source governance
- Oversee the Product Counsel function to ensure early legal input in product development and lifecycle processes
- Advise on legal issues related to AI and data-driven products, ensuring compliance and responsible innovation practices
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant legal experience, particularly in intellectual property and product counseling within a technology company
- Demonstrated experience in leading global IP strategy and managing patent and trademark portfolios
- Technical fluency in software, data analytics, AI, or cloud technologies is strongly preferred
- Experience building scalable legal processes and governance frameworks to enhance efficiency and risk management
