Senior Director, IP Counsel
Job Summary
Leading Teradata's intellectual property strategy, the full-time Senior Director, IP Counsel will oversee a team of IP professionals, manage global IP portfolios, and provide strategic legal guidance to product engineering and other stakeholders in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement global IP strategy, including management of patents, trademarks, and open-source assets
- Oversee the Product Counsel function, ensuring legal input is integrated throughout product development and lifecycle processes
- Advise on legal issues related to AI and data-driven products, focusing on compliance and responsible innovation
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant legal experience, particularly in intellectual property and product counseling within a technology company
- Experience leading global IP strategy and managing patent and trademark portfolios
- Technical fluency in software, data analytics, AI, or cloud technologies is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice for diverse stakeholders
