Senior Director of Science Policy

Job Summary

Leading the science policy activities of the organization, the full-time Senior Director of Science Policy will manage the Science Policy and Regulatory Team, serve as the primary contact for member institutions on biomedical research issues, and act as a key advisor on research matters in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the analysis of proposed and existing research regulations, providing guidance and drafting AAMC comment letters
• Maintain AAMC's reputation as a thought leader in biomedical research oversight through public speaking and networking
• Oversee the strategic direction, programs, budget, and staffing of the Science Policy and Regulatory Team

Required qualifications

• Graduate degree
• 12+ years of related work experience
• 5 years of supervisory experience
• Demonstrated expertise in biomedical research policy and regulation, including 7 years of experience with federal laws and regulations
• Strong leadership skills with experience in managing people and strategy
