Senior Editor
Job Summary
Acquiring primarily for the fiction list, the full-time Senior Editor will publish 8-10 books per year, build relationships with literary agents and authors, and develop manuscripts while working closely with the editorial team in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Commission and acquire a range of titles with strong critical and commercial potential
- Develop and edit manuscripts at both structural and line levels
- Maintain publishing schedules and coordinate across departments in a collaborative manner
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of book publishing experience or equivalent
- Highly developed editing and copywriting skills
- Extensive contacts in writing, journalism, and the agent community
- Deep engagement with the fiction landscape and market
- Familiarity with negotiating and contract language
