Senior Electrical Designer

Job Summary

To support a growing design team, the remote Senior Electrical Substation Designer will develop detailed physical design drawings and construction-ready documentation for medium- and high-voltage substations, manage design packages, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop detailed physical design drawings and documentation for substation projects
• Manage assigned design packages from early development through final review, ensuring quality and adherence to project schedules
• Collaborate with electrical, civil, structural, and protection and control teams to integrate design requirements and resolve technical challenges

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on substation physical design experience
• Strong AutoCAD proficiency and experience preparing physical design packages for substations operating between 15kV and 500kV
• Solid understanding of major substation components and ability to interpret technical documentation
• Working knowledge of IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI, and applicable engineering standards
• Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent technical training and experience
