Job Summary

Leading competitive benchmarking initiatives, the full-time Senior Engineer, Performance Benchmarking will develop workloads, automate experiments, and analyze Elasticsearch's performance against alternative systems in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own and prioritize competitive benchmarking initiatives across various workloads
• Build and maintain automated benchmark harnesses and datasets that reflect real-world usage
• Collaborate with engineering teams to investigate performance differences and validate improvements

Required qualifications

• Solid software engineering skills with experience in Python or a relevant programming language
• Hands-on experience evaluating performance in distributed systems or search infrastructure
• Depth in areas such as search, vector retrieval, or analytical databases
• Experience designing datasets and workloads, including query patterns and concurrency
• Clear technical writing skills to explain complex findings and methodologies
