Senior Engineering Manager

Job Summary

The full-time Senior Engineering Manager will lead and develop a team of engineers responsible for architecting and operating the enterprise ontology platform, ensuring hands-on involvement in both technical direction and implementation while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage a team of 5-6 engineers, overseeing hiring, performance management, and team culture
• Own the platform architecture, including services, APIs, and data pipelines, while driving technical decisions and ensuring production-quality code
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and the foundational data platform team to align on requirements and resolve capability gaps

Required qualifications

• 8-12 years of software/data engineering experience with a focus on building production-grade platforms or services
• Prior experience as an Engineering Manager with direct responsibility for team management and development
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, proficient in at least one modern backend language and architecture design
• Experience designing and implementing data modeling/mapping frameworks, including ontology or knowledge graph models
• Practical experience with graph databases and/or semantic web standards, along with solid database and data engineering skills
