Job Summary
Supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project, the full-time Senior FHIR Data Platform Engineer will optimize and maintain the HAPI FHIR data platform, focusing on PostgreSQL performance, data quality, and healthcare data reporting in a 100% remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Optimize the HAPI FHIR JPA persistence layer within PostgreSQL, including search parameters and custom indexes
- Design and execute FHIR data quality checks and develop measure-reporting services for digital quality measurement engines
- Collaborate with cloud platform engineers to optimize database performance and maintain platform availability
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of PostgreSQL experience
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL query planning, index design, and performance troubleshooting
- 3+ years of experience with HAPI FHIR JPA server internals and FHIR R4
- Working knowledge of OMOP Common Data Model v5.4 and experience writing analytical SQL queries
- Proficiency in Java 21, Spring Boot, and Git, with secure development practices in HIPAA-regulated environments
