Senior Full Stack Engineer

Job Summary

To support federal digital modernization efforts, the full-time Senior Full Stack Engineer will rapidly deploy to complex engineering issues, embedding with system owners to resolve active Code Yellows while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy to VA's complex engineering issues, collaborating with system owners to achieve resolution within a 90-day window
• Build and modify full stack applications and APIs across various technology stacks, including improving CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
• Produce written assessments and recommendations for stakeholders, ensuring the owning team can maintain the systems post-engagement

Required qualifications

• Working fluency in at least one modern backend language and demonstrated experience across infrastructure, data, and identity systems
• Practical cloud experience, preferably with AWS, beyond basic tutorials
• Ability to quickly become productive in unfamiliar codebases and languages, demonstrating past experiences where this was achieved
• Strong fundamentals in Git workflows, CI/CD, testing, REST API design, and relational databases
• Experience communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders through assessments and reports
