Senior Information Security Specialist

Job Summary

Co-leading the security team, the full-time Senior Information Security Specialist will perform hands-on security tasks, maintain relationships with CMS stakeholders, and mentor junior team members in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Share leadership responsibilities with the Security Lead, providing coverage during their absence
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, coordinate remediation efforts, and manage security documentation
• Serve as a trusted security resource for CMS, fostering strong relationships with Security Oversight Leadership

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of information security experience, preferably in a federal or CMS environment
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently as a co-lead within a team
• Working knowledge of vulnerability scanning and compliance platforms such as Jira and Confluence
• Ability to obtain and maintain CMS EUA access and required clearance
• Security certification (Security+, CySA+, or equivalent) is preferred
