Job Summary
To evolve and operate Shopify's CDC and Data Materialization platforms, the full-time Senior Infrastructure Engineer will build and manage systems that ensure throughput and reliability for event-driven applications, while working remotely across the Americas.
Key responsibilities
- Build and operate the CDC and Data Materialization platforms, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards
- Resolve complex production issues and participate in an on-call rotation
- Lead impactful projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors
Required qualifications
- Experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Debezium, Kafka) and databases (e.g., MySQL, BigQuery)
- Proficiency in coding patterns, preferably in Java or Go
- Experience operating large distributed systems at scale
- Ability to navigate and lead projects through ambiguous challenges
- Experience contributing to open source or vendor codebases
