Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Job Summary

To ensure data security and compliance, the full-time remote Senior Infrastructure Engineer will design and optimize large-scale batch jobs while managing authorization infrastructure across diverse storage systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own the engineering and operation of systems that secure and govern access to Shopify's data
• Design and optimize large-scale batch processing jobs for handling petabytes of data
• Develop and implement authorization frameworks, ensuring correct and auditable access controls

Required qualifications

• Strong data engineering fundamentals, including SQL and Java, with experience in large-scale compute frameworks like Spark or Flink
• Experience in designing and optimizing data processing pipelines for very large datasets
• Deep understanding of data storage and transformation at scale
• Familiarity with multiple storage and streaming systems and their security models
• Interest in data privacy and responsible data handling practices
