Job Summary
To support the Database Platform group within Shopify's Infrastructure organization, the full-time remote Senior Infrastructure Engineer will build and extend the database management control plane, write code, operate production systems, and debug distributed-systems failures while ensuring reliability at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain the software layer that provisions databases and orchestrates operational workflows
- Debug and resolve complex distributed-systems failures while improving system reliability
- Lead technical initiatives and mentor team members in a remote engineering environment
Required qualifications
- Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Go or Ruby
- Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and distributed database systems
- Familiarity with configuration management tools and Linux shell environments
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps practices
