Job Summary
To support the operational needs of a life and accident insurance company, the remote Senior IT Programmer Analyst will manage the full lifecycle development, deployment, and ongoing support of mainframe-based applications while collaborating with business clients and IT teams to deliver effective technical solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate with business clients and IT personnel to analyze system requests and develop technical specifications for new and existing mainframe applications
- Design, code, test, and implement program changes, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and quality standards
- Serve as a mentor to less experienced programmer/analysts and provide on-call production support to ensure system availability
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in system development and support for mainframe-based applications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent work experience will be considered
- Mastery of mainframe development tools including COBOL, Easytrieve, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and zOS
- Strong working knowledge of SDLC methodologies including Waterfall and Agile
- Proven ability to partner with business clients to develop system solutions aligned to business needs
