Senior Linux Automation Engineer
Job Summary
Focused on engineering and maintaining the Valassis DMT platform environment, the full-time Senior Linux Automation Engineer will engage in hands-on systems engineering, configuration management, and high-availability cloud infrastructure execution in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain configuration modules using Puppet and Ansible for system provisioning and application deployment
- Administer and optimize enterprise Linux environments, primarily Ubuntu, ensuring performance and security
- Operate and optimize virtualization layers, including OpenStack and hypervisors, while managing automated bare-metal server provisioning
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in Linux infrastructure engineering and cloud automation
- Expert-level experience in engineering and maintaining enterprise Ubuntu/Debian server environments
- Proven mastery in authoring custom Puppet modules and Ansible playbooks for automation
- Strong background in bare-metal provisioning and virtualization concepts (KVM, LXD, ESXi)
