Senior Linux Systems Administrator

Job Summary

Supporting Linux system automation and infrastructure for academic applications, the full-time Senior Linux Systems Administrator will independently design, administer, and manage complex Linux systems and networks while providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff in a remote capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Design and support complex Linux systems and networks for academic and student information systems
• Lead large-scale implementations, upgrades, and security management initiatives
• Provide mentorship and direction to junior staff while ensuring operational reliability and infrastructure automation

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience (10-14 years of Linux administration)
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration, including scripting and Ansible
• Experience with backup and recovery procedures, networking, and identity-management tools
• General knowledge of computer hardware and ability to support diverse system and application issues
• Proven ability to manage priorities and deadlines in complex technical environments
