Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

As a remote opportunity based in North Carolina, the Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer will define the technical roadmap for next-generation additive manufacturing solutions, drive hardware architecture, and lead cross-functional technical delivery while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Hardware Architecture: Own the high-level mechanical architecture for new 3D printing platforms, ensuring modularity and precision
• Lead Cross-Functional Technical Delivery: Act as the technical bridge between Systems, Electrical, Software, and Materials Science to de-risk products
• Establish Engineering Standards: Define frameworks for validation and reliability testing to ensure hardware excellence at scale

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in mechanical or mechatronics product development with a track record of shipping complex systems
• Expert-level intuition in thermodynamics, structural dynamics, and precision motion control
• Extensive experience managing Tier 1 JDM/CM partners and directing global pilot and production builds
• Expert-level application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), DFMEA, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Proven ability to mentor and elevate Senior and Staff-level engineers across a hardware organization
