Senior Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing health system, the full-time Senior Medical Coding Specialist will review and assign diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient encounters while working remotely, ensuring compliance and providing training to staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop efficient workflows to prioritize complex coding tasks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Utilize coding classification systems to ensure accurate code selection and address documentation gaps
• Provide guidance and support to coding staff on complex coding scenarios and stay updated on coding regulations

Required Qualifications

• 4 years of relevant work experience in medical coding
• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification as a Certified Coding Associate, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Professional Coder
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient facility coding practices
• Experience with compliance and regulatory requirements in healthcare coding
