Senior MUMPS Software Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Department of Veterans Affairs, the remote Senior MUMPS Software Engineer will deliver complex enhancements and resolve defects within the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), managing technical analysis, implementation, and release validation while collaborating with the Principal MUMPS Architect.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, debug, and maintain complex MUMPS enhancements in VistA, translating requirements into maintainable routines
• Lead investigations of code and data defects, tracing routine calls and package dependencies to establish root causes
• Define and execute unit tests for assigned changes, supporting integration, regression, and release validation across affected components

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of MUMPS software development experience for production applications
• Experience with VistA development, including modifying application routines and tracing dependencies
• Strong MUMPS programming and debugging skills, including globals and error handling
• Strong FileMan development experience with data dictionaries and APIs
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
