Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time contract basis, the Senior .NET Modernization Engineer will lead the modernization of a decade-old HR technology SaaS platform, focusing on upgrading from .NET Framework to modern .NET and MongoDB while ensuring system stability and performance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage requirements and discovery by analyzing existing code to understand system functionality and identify hidden behaviors
- Plan architecture and migration strategies, sequencing upgrades into manageable steps and clarifying trade-offs
- Write and review production code daily, utilizing AI coding tools while ensuring regression safety through testing
Required qualifications
- 8-10+ years of professional experience with C#/.NET, particularly in .NET Framework 4.x
- Proven experience in leading .NET Framework to modern .NET migrations of large systems while maintaining production
- Solid experience with MongoDB, including version upgrades
- Ability to work with large, under-tested legacy codebases and implement regression safety measures
- Familiarity with AI coding tools and a strong capability to validate their outputs through testing and review
