Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist

Job Summary

Owning the payroll process for a distributed workforce, the full-time Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist will manage multi-state payroll, ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance payroll operations in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Run two payroll cycles weekly for fulfillment and hourly showroom teams, and bi-weekly for corporate and salaried showroom staff
• Maintain the U.S. compliance calendar, ensuring timely completion of annual filings and translating legislative changes into actionable steps
• Design and implement internal controls for payroll and compliance, ensuring accurate documentation for audits

Required qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in payroll and compliance, including 3+ years managing multi-state U.S. payroll
• Direct experience with California or New York employment law is a strong plus
• Proficiency in an enterprise HRIS, such as Paylocity, for end-to-end payroll processing
• Experience managing a compliance calendar with various regulatory obligations
• Ability to collaborate with legal teams to translate legal requirements into employee-friendly policies
