Senior Principal Data Scientist

Job Summary

Guiding the largest data science and engineering team at Progressive, the full-time Senior Principal Data Scientist will leverage machine learning, machine vision, and generative AI to enhance claims accuracy and efficiency while collaborating with business leaders and technology teams to design and implement analytical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and deployment of machine learning and AI solutions to address significant business challenges in claims processing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and scale responsible analytical solutions that improve customer outcomes
• Mentor team members and influence data science practices across the organization to drive measurable business results

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Statistical/Quantitative Modeling and/or Machine Learning tools
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Proficiency in using database tools (e.g., Hadoop, SQL) to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data
• Experience leading complex machine learning or AI projects from ideation through launch
• Strong technical skills in production AI architecture and managing models over their full lifecycle
