Senior Program Officer, Sub-Saharan Africa

Job Summary

To implement regional funding programs for Wikimedian communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, the full-time Senior Program Officer will manage grantmaking strategies, build community relationships, and evaluate funding impacts while working remotely from a country within the region.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage the Community Resources grantmaking strategy, aligning with regional needs and opportunities
• Build and develop regional funding committees to facilitate participatory decision-making in grant allocations
• Establish and maintain trust-based relationships with communities, grantees, and applicants, acting as the primary liaison

Required qualifications

• Solid knowledge of trust-based philanthropy or community-based grantmaking
• Experience in grantmaking, particularly in an international context
• Strong strategic and analytical skills with proven project management experience
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity
• Proven English proficiency in written and spoken communication
