Job Summary
Providing legal and regulatory guidance, the full-time Senior Regulatory Counsel (Licensed) will focus on mortgage origination, conduct legal research, supervise a junior attorney, and translate regulatory requirements into practical business policies in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Research and analyze federal and state laws and regulations affecting the business
- Provide legal advice and recommendations to leadership and business stakeholders
- Supervise, train, and mentor a junior attorney while managing legal and compliance origination issues
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 5+ years of legal or regulatory compliance experience in mortgage lending or financial services
- Experience interpreting regulatory changes and advising on their implementation
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage origination laws and regulations
- Experience with loan origination systems, preferably Encompass
