Senior Safety Systems Engineer
Job Summary
Supporting the advancement of key projects, the full-time Senior Safety Systems Engineer will collaborate with engineering and operations teams remotely to identify hazards, evaluate system risks, and develop mitigation strategies throughout system design, installation, validation, commissioning, and operation.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the engineering safety partner for the Austin site, managing risk during design and operational phases
- Lead structured hazard analyses and translate findings into practical engineering and operational controls
- Develop and maintain technical safety documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in systems safety or operational safety in high-risk environments
- Experience performing structured hazard analyses and implementing engineering controls
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical, mechanical, laser, and cryogenic hazards
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced R&D environment
