Job Summary
Supporting scientific computing for a large National Laboratory, the full-time Senior Scientific Software Engineer will sustain and modernize computational modeling software, focusing on reliable and maintainable code performance on Linux and HPC systems, with the option to work remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Sustain, analyze, and modernize scientific software, including legacy systems
- Refactor code to enhance portability, efficiency, maintainability, and stability
- Support computational modeling across various models and assess software performance
Required qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience
- Recent project experience involving computational modeling and software development in a regulated, safety-critical environment
- Proficiency in scientific programming with Fortran, Python, and C/C++
- Experience with GNU/Linux development environments and HPC systems
- Familiarity with software quality practices and version control systems like Git
