Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To lead the ScreamingFace squad in building open-source infrastructure for federated AI, the full-time contract Senior/Staff Software Engineer will manage technical architecture, drive production readiness, and mentor the team in engineering best practices while working remotely with flexible hours that align with US Eastern business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Own the ScreamingFace squad's technical architecture and ensure reliable delivery of technical capabilities and user experience
• Drive production readiness through effective monitoring, error handling, and operational documentation
• Establish and mentor the team in engineering best practices, ensuring high-quality software delivery and effective collaboration

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record in building and operating production systems at scale
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and managing agentic workflows
• Strong proficiency in Python (3.12+) and experience with FastAPI services and async orchestration
• Experience in distributed systems and API design, including interface evolution for multiple teams
• Technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and implementing engineering quality practices
