Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely as an independent contractor, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will partner with a senior engineer to plan, build, and deliver software solutions while engaging directly with clients on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the senior engineer to manage project delivery and take ownership of tasks without waiting for assignments
• Engage with the client's team through daily standups, status updates, and scoping conversations
• Handle work end-to-end, proactively communicating timelines and flagging risks in the absence of a dedicated project manager

Required qualifications

• Extensive backend experience with Python, Flask, SQLAlchemy, and relational databases such as MySQL/MariaDB
• Frontend experience with server-rendered stacks including Jinja2 templates, Bootstrap, and JavaScript/jQuery
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written, for effective client communication
• Prior experience in a consulting, professional-services, or client-facing agency environment is strongly preferred
• Able to quickly adapt to an existing codebase and client relationship with a fast learning curve
