Senior Software Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the backend development for Ethena Pay's neobanking app, the fully remote Senior/Staff Software Engineer will design and build secure APIs, manage authentication and authorization processes, and ensure the reliability and correctness of payment transactions.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain complex backend systems for a high-usage consumer app
- Manage the app-facing API contract, ensuring version compatibility and error handling in collaboration with the iOS team
- Oversee authentication and authorization backend, implementing security measures and handling PII effectively
Required qualifications
- Proven experience with backend systems handling real money in production environments such as payments or banking
- Expertise in designing client-facing APIs with a focus on versioning, idempotency, and error models
- Experience with authentication/authorization backends, including OAuth2/OIDC and JWT lifecycle management
- Hands-on integration experience with financial third parties, including payment providers and KYC processes
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, with familiarity in Postgres and event/queue systems like Kafka or SQS
