Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

As a full-time Senior Software Engineer on the Access & Authorization team, the candidate will design and implement secure authentication and authorization systems, focusing on building distributed services that enhance customer experience while maintaining strong security protocols in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of authentication and authorization capabilities, including OAuth and 2FA
• Build secure, low-latency Go and gRPC services utilized across various Coinbase platforms, ensuring strong observability and measurable service levels
• Lead technical designs for complex initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance security and customer experience

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with proficiency in Go or a comparable systems-oriented language
• Experience designing secure APIs and understanding authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
• Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and data stores like Redis or DynamoDB
• Proven track record of delivering complex cross-functional projects from design to production rollout
• Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and quality
