Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

As a full-time remote Senior Software Engineer on the Access & Authorization team, the candidate will design and implement secure authentication and authorization systems that enhance user experience while maintaining strong security across Coinbase's products.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, implementation, and operation of authentication, OAuth, sessions, tokens, and edge authorization capabilities
• Build secure, low-latency Go and gRPC services with strong observability and measurable SLOs for various Coinbase platforms
• Lead technical designs for complex initiatives, collaborating with product, security, and infrastructure teams to balance user experience and security requirements

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Go or a comparable systems-oriented language
• Experience designing secure APIs and managing authentication, authorization, and session management
• Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and data stores such as Redis or DynamoDB
• Track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects from design to production rollout
• Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight in engineering processes
