Senior Software Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the scholarly search and data platform, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will enhance distributed systems, integrate diverse data sources, and develop product features using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Python, with the flexibility to work remotely within US time zones.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the quality, coverage, and reliability of Elicit's data platform while translating business needs into technical plans
- Develop secure integrations for enterprise customers, ensuring compliance with access and privacy requirements
- Lead end-to-end feature development across frontend and backend systems, monitoring performance and simplifying complexity
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production systems and architectural decisions
- Strong proficiency in Python and working knowledge of TypeScript; experience with React is a plus
- Experience in designing and tuning distributed data pipelines, with familiarity in Spark being advantageous
- Solid SQL skills and an understanding of data layout impacts on performance and cost
- Experience integrating external data sources, including APIs and handling data quality challenges
