Senior Software Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Users Foundation team, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will design and build distributed systems that ensure reliability and correctness while collaborating with various engineering teams to manage core user data services remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs that are essential across Airbnb's platform
- Lead multi-engineer projects from problem definition through rollout and operations
- Enhance the reliability and scalability of systems handling high-volume account data and events
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production services
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, including messaging/eventing and service reliability patterns
- Experience in building and operating high-traffic backend services
- Proven track record of leading complex, multi-month projects from inception to delivery
- Experience in driving technical decisions across team boundaries
