Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To support the evolution of e-commerce solutions, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will build and maintain features for the BigCommerce storefront service, collaborating with product managers and partner teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain features for the service powering BigCommerce storefronts, shaping requirements and designs with product managers
• Add and extend GraphQL Storefront API queries while ensuring backward compatibility for integrations
• Investigate and resolve production issues, enhancing performance and reliability of the service

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building backend services in production
• Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Production experience with Scala or Kotlin, with a willingness to learn Scala for those experienced in other languages
• Familiarity with GraphQL APIs and service-to-service communication technologies
• Experience with debugging production issues using metrics and logs, and writing automated tests within CI/CD pipelines
