Job Summary

Leading competitive benchmarking initiatives, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will develop workloads, automate experiments, and analyze Elasticsearch performance against alternative systems while working remotely from various distributed locations.

Key responsibilities

• Own and prioritize competitive benchmarking initiatives across various workloads, including search and observability
• Build and maintain automated benchmark harnesses and datasets that reflect real-world usage scenarios
• Collaborate with engineering teams to investigate performance differences and validate improvements through controlled experiments

Required qualifications

• Solid software engineering skills with experience in Python or a relevant programming language
• Hands-on experience diagnosing performance in distributed systems or search infrastructure
• Depth in areas such as search, vector retrieval, or analytical databases
• Experience designing representative datasets and workloads, including query patterns and concurrency
• Clear technical writing skills with the ability to explain complex findings and limitations
