Senior SQL Database Administrator
Job Summary
Supporting the migration of the Armed Forces Public Information Management System (AFPIMS) to AWS, the remote Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) / AWS Aurora Migration Engineer will assess, plan, and execute the transition of Microsoft SQL Server databases to AWS Aurora, ensuring database optimization, security compliance, and performance monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop migration strategies for SQL Server databases
- Lead the migration process to AWS Aurora, configuring and optimizing database environments
- Implement database security controls and backup/recovery procedures in compliance with DoD requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- 8-10 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments
- 3 years of experience with AWS cloud database environments or migrations
- Demonstrated experience migrating SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL or similar platforms
- Experience in supporting DoD or federal government environments
