Senior Staff Engineer

Job Summary

As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Guest & Host team, this full-time remote position will set the technical direction for backend platforms that manage listing data, ensuring quality and visibility while collaborating with cross-functional teams to design APIs and data models for AI-assisted features.

Key responsibilities

• Set the multi-year technical strategy and roadmap for Listings and Quality backend systems
• Partner with AI Platform, Trust, Infrastructure, and Product teams to shape architecture and establish platform contracts
• Drive platformization, simplification, and self-service capabilities while mentoring and supporting the growth of individual contributors

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience in the tech industry, with 4+ years in an Architect or Staff Engineer role
• Strong backend expertise in distributed systems, data modeling, and API design using Java, Kotlin, or similar languages
• Experience designing APIs and data systems for AI-assisted features, including data provenance and validation
• Proven track record of setting a multi-year technical vision and improving system reliability
• Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of Diversity and Belonging within the organization and tech community
