Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the AI behind Altana Nexus, the remote or hybrid Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer will drive the technical direction for agentic systems, build reliable data processing pipelines, and adapt models to enhance real-time decision-making in global trade.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the technical direction and define the architecture for models processing trade data
- Build and lead the design of systems for data ingestion, document understanding, and compliance decision-making
- Mentor senior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate new business ideas and capabilities
Required qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience building and shipping ML systems in production, including recent work on LLM-powered products
- Deep expertise in PyTorch and the modern Python ML stack (Hugging Face, scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas/Polars)
- Hands-on experience with production LLM applications and adapting models for production use cases
- Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and set architectural direction across teams
