Job Summary
Driving the technical direction of Affirm's EKS platform, the full-time remote Senior Staff Software Engineer will architect solutions for cluster lifecycle management, ensure workload reliability, and automate Kubernetes operations at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Architect and evolve the EKS platform, managing cluster provisioning, upgrades, and teardown
- Define and enforce EKS workload safety standards while building automation paths for policy adoption
- Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations to address runtime Kubernetes issues
Required qualifications
- 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering with complex platform solutions delivery
- 6+ years of hands-on experience operating production Kubernetes at scale, preferably EKS on AWS
- Expert-level proficiency in Go or Python with a proven track record in building Kubernetes controllers and tooling
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps deployment pipelines
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
