Job Summary
As a hands-on technical leader, the full-time Senior Staff Software Engineer will set the technical direction for InfluxDB 3.0, design and write production Rust code for the storage engine, and mentor engineering teams in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Shape the long-term technical vision for the InfluxDB 3.0 product line and collaborate with engineering leaders on product strategy
- Design and implement core functionalities for the storage engine, focusing on distributed caching, reliability, and performance
- Establish engineering standards and mentor staff to cultivate the next generation of technical leaders
Required qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including several years at a senior staff level or above
- Proven experience building and operating distributed systems at large scale
- Hands-on experience with multiple cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, Azure) and object storage
- Deep hands-on experience with Rust or strong systems experience with a desire to master Rust
- Expertise in distributed caching, reliability, and performance engineering
