Senior Substation Design Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the design of high-voltage substations, the full-time Senior Substation Design Engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert, developing innovative engineering solutions and mentoring junior engineers while working remotely or in a hybrid capacity from various U.S. locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design power utility substations, including general arrangements, equipment layouts, and grounding plans, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and client standards
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to ensure successful project execution and resolve technical issues
• Provide technical mentorship and oversight to junior engineers, reviewing calculations, drawings, and specifications for quality and compliance

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• 7-10 years of experience in substation physical design engineering
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong document management and organization skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
