Senior Substation Engineer
Job Summary
Responsible for the performance and reliability of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, the remote Senior Substation Engineer will manage lifecycle strategies, lead troubleshooting efforts, and serve as the primary engineering liaison with utilities and contractors.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the performance, reliability, and technical stewardship of substation and MV/HV systems across the operating fleet
- Lead resolution of major equipment failures and complex technical challenges through structured root cause analysis
- Oversee fleet protection and control systems, including settings, logic, coordination, and configuration management
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering strongly preferred)
- 7+ years of experience with substations, MV/HV systems, or related electrical infrastructure
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting, commissioning, testing, or maintaining substation equipment
- Experience with protection and control systems, relay analysis, and coordination
- Strong understanding of power transformers, breakers, switchgear, and MV/HV equipment
