Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support Veterans Affairs operations, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will perform high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems, troubleshoot system outages, and ensure compliance with security policies while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operational support and maintenance of cloud systems, addressing technical issues and outages
- Develop solutions for routine technical problems and document issues in logging tools
- Communicate with users and management regarding system status and ensure compliance with VA standards
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including experience with S3, CloudWatch, and automation tools
- Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Experience with database systems such as AWS RDS SQL Server and knowledge of network protocols and security practices
