Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will manage day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical problems, and ensure compliance with security policies while maintaining system performance and reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-level operational support and maintenance of cloud systems, including troubleshooting and resolving outages
- Document issues and communicate status updates to users and senior management while ensuring adherence to VA standards
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and manage system assets to enhance operational efficiency
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services and strong experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management
- Knowledge of cloud-native technologies and infrastructure-as-code tools, as well as experience with network monitoring and security best practices
