Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support Veterans Affairs operations, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will manage day-to-day operational support for complex application cloud systems, troubleshoot system outages, and ensure compliance with security policies in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-level operational support and maintenance for cloud systems, resolving technical issues as they arise
- Document problems and maintain system asset inventory while communicating with users and management about system statuses
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and ensure adherence to VA standards and security protocols
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including S3 and CloudWatch
- Strong experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with system administration tasks
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management
