Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will manage day-to-day operational support for complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical problems, and ensure compliance with security policies while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-level operational support and maintenance of cloud systems, addressing outages and documenting issues
- Communicate directly with customers regarding system status and respond to user calls for hardware and software problems
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and maintain inventory of system assets
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including S3 and CloudWatch
- Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Proven track record of managing large-scale production systems and implementing security measures
