Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support Veterans Affairs, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will manage day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical problems, and ensure compliance with security policies while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-level operational support and maintenance for production systems, including troubleshooting and resolving outages
- Document issues and communicate statuses to users and senior management while ensuring adherence to VA standards
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and manage system assets to optimize performance and reliability
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, along with experience in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems
- Strong skills in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation purposes
- Experience with system administration tasks and familiarity with monitoring tools like DynaTrace and CloudWatch
