Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will perform high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems, manage system outages, and ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
Key responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operational support and maintenance of large-scale production systems
- Detect, document, and resolve system outages while communicating status to users and management
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and maintain inventory of system assets
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, particularly S3, Step Functions, and CloudWatch
- Strong skills in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
