Senior Systems Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will perform high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems, develop solutions for technical problems, and ensure compliance with security policies while managing system outages and user communications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support and maintenance for production systems in a cloud environment
• Document and resolve system outages, ensuring rapid recovery and communication with users and management
• Implement continuous improvement methodologies and maintain compliance with VA standards and security policies

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services and large-scale production systems
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance and reliability, with knowledge of network protocols and security best practices
