Senior Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support Veterans Affairs operations, the full-time Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) will manage day-to-day operational support for complex application cloud systems, troubleshoot system outages, and ensure compliance with VA standards while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high-level operational support and maintenance of cloud systems, addressing technical problems and outages
- Document issues and communicate statuses to users and senior management, ensuring timely resolution of hardware and software problems
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and maintain system asset inventory in compliance with security policies
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including S3 and CloudWatch
- Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with experience in system administration tasks
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management
